Regular Season Round 9: Basket Gdynia - Widzew 97-62

Bottom-ranked Widzew (0-8) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to fourth ranked Basket Gdynia (6-3) 97-62 on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Basket Gdynia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Widzew's 38. They outrebounded Widzew 47-30 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Basket Gdynia looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Widzew's players. The best player for the winners was American forward Kahleah Copper (185-94, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) who scored 19 points and 8 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American-Lithuanian forward Sofija Aleksandravicius (192-91, college: Davidson, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 8 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Basket Gdynia's coach Gundars Vetra felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was international Roksana Schmidt (180-92, agency: Promotex) who recorded 23 points, 5 assists and 4 steals and guard Julia Drop (175-95) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Basket Gdynia maintains fourth place with 6-3 record. Widzew lost their eighth game in a row. They still close the standings with eight games lost.
