There was an upset in Rosh Pina where higher ranked Galil Gilboa (3-4) was defeated by eleventh ranked Hapoel Eilat (2-5) 88-82 on Sunday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Hapoel Eilat outrebounded Galil Gilboa 45-27 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Galil Gilboa was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Afik Nissim (185-81, agency: Avi Zilberman) who led his team to a victory scoring 32 points and 4 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). American guard Jordan Loyd (193-93, college: Indianapolis) helped adding 21 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St., agency: Diamond Sports) responded with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and the other American import point guard JCovan Brown (188-90, college: Texas, agency: 3Eye) scored 19 points and 4 assists. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Galil Gilboa dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Hapoel Eilat will face bottom-ranked Maccabi Haifa (#12) at home in the next round.
