Regular Season Round 14: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 64-86

The game between closely ranked teams ended with one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars' (8-9) home loss to second ranked Niigata Albirex (8-9) 64-86 on Monday. Niigata Albirex made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import power forward Jared Berggren (208-90, college: Wisconsin) contributed with 8 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Center Samba Faye (205-87) replied with 16 points and Koyo Takahashi added 13 points in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex maintains second position with 8-9 record having six points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with defeated Shiga L-Stars. Niigata Albirex will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
