There was a surprise result in Sichuan where eleventh ranked Whale (2-2) defeated one of their biggest challengers Jiangsu Phoenix (2-2) 82-69 on Monday. Whale made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points, 20 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Xuetong Zhao (185-94) chipped in 23 points and 8 rebounds. International point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) produced 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Li Gong (187-95) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Whale moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Jiangsu Phoenix. Whale will face league's leader Beijing Great Wall on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jiangsu Phoenix will play against Heilongjiang (#11) and hope to win that game.
