Regular Season Round 14: Shiga L-Stars - Niigata Albirex 71-82

The game between closely ranked teams ended with second ranked Niigata Albirex's (8-9) road victory over one of their biggest challengers Shiga L-Stars (8-9) 82-71 on Tuesday. Niigata Albirex made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds. The former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) contributed with 12 points and 4 assists for the winners. Egyptian-American center Omar Samhan (211-88, college: St.Mary's, CA) replied with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Narito Namizato (172-89) added 6 points and 10 assists in the effort for Shiga L-Stars. Four Shiga L-Stars players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Niigata Albirex maintains second position with 8-9 record having six points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with defeated Shiga L-Stars. Niigata Albirex will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shiga L-Stars will play against Toyama Grouses and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
