Regular Season Round 11: Al-Ittihad - Al-Najma 76-83

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Manama: Al-Najma (#8) and Al-Ittihad (#6). Al-Ittihad was defeated at home 76-83 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The best player for the winners was American forward Haminn Quaintance (203-85, college: Kent St.) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Mohammed Bullay chipped in 19 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Al-Najma's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Antwan Wilkerson (201-91, college: Johnson C. Smith) produced a double-double by scoring 24 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and Ali Helal added 15 points and 11 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al-Najma (5-5) moved-up to seventh place. Loser Al-Ittihad dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Al-Najma will meet at home higher ranked Al-Muharraq (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Al-Ittihad will have a break next round.
