Regular Season Round 8: Skallagrimur - Njardvik 86-79

Date: November 22, 2017
Bottom-ranked Njardvik (0-8) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Skallagrimur (5-3) 86-79 on Wednesday evening. Skallagrimur forced 22 Njardvik turnovers. The best player for the winners was American swingman Carmen Tyson-Thomas (180-91, college: Syracuse, agency: Two Points) who had a double-double by scoring 47 points (!!!), 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. The former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. American Shalonda Winton (180-91, college: Cleveland St.) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 17 rebounds and point guard Bjork Gunnarsdotir (165-98) added 9 points respectively for the guests. Njardvik's coach Hallgrimur Brynjolfsson tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Skallagrimur have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Haukar and Stjarnan. Loser Njardvik still closes the standings with eight games lost. Skallagrimur will meet Snaefell (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Njardvik will play against Haukar and hopes to get finally their first victory.
