Regular Season Round 5: Xinjiang - Shenyang 97-81

Rather expected game when 12th ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (1-4) lost to ninth ranked Xinjiang (3-2) in Urumqi 81-97 on Wednesday. Xinjiang outrebounded Shenyang Golden Lions 36-20 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Xinjiang especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by Shenyang Golden Lions' players. Guard Lee Wang (170-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists. Forward Yajing Sun (183-89) contributed with 17 points and 6 assists for the winners. Five Xinjiang players scored in double figures. The former international forward Shuang Zhao (188-90) answered with 26 points and 5 assists (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international swingman Jiabao Jin (184-93) added 20 points in the effort for Shenyang Golden Lions. Xinjiang moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Guangdong and Shandong. Loser Shenyang Golden Lions keep the twelfth position with four games lost. Xinjiang will face Bayi Kylin (#10) in Yinzhou in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shenyang Golden Lions will play on the road against Zhejiang Far East in Hangzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
