Regular Season Round 5: Liaoning - Shandong 67-66

The most exciting game of round 5 in the WCBA took place in Anshan. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Shandong (3-2) to third ranked Liaoning Hengye (4-1) 67-66 in the game for the third place. Liaoning Hengye made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. American power forward Elizabeth Williams (190-93, college: Duke) saved the victory by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks. Forward Jiamei Liang (182-92) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Bosnian-American center Lynetta Kizer (193-90, college: Maryland) answered with 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Siyu Wang (175-95) added 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Shandong. Liaoning Hengye have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain third place with 4-1 record behind leader Beijing. Shandong at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Guangdong and Xinjiang. Liaoning Hengye are looking forward to face league's leader Beijing Great Wall on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Shandong will play against Xing Rui in Taiyuan and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
