Regular Season Round 9: Helmi Basket - Espoo Team 54-84

Rather predictable result in Helsinki where seventh ranked Espoo Team (4-6) smashed 9th ranked Helmi Basket (1-9) 84-54. The game was mostly controlled by Espoo Team. Helmi Basket was better in fourth quarter 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espoo Team forced 23 Helmi Basket turnovers and outrebounded them 53-33 including a 40-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Espoo Team players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American guard Zykira Lewis (173-94, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!), 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Her fellow American import forward Kamilah Jackson (181-92, college: Hawaii) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. International guard Sara Bejedi (166-0) answered with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals and international guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen (176-99) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Helmi Basket. Helmi Basket's coach Pekka Salminen gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Espoo Team maintains seventh place with 4-6 record. Helmi Basket lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Espoo Team's next round opponent will be higher ranked Forssan Alku (#6) on the road and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Helmi Basket will play against the league's leader Catz Lappeenranta where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
