Regular Season Round 10: IA - Fjolnir 86-99

Bottom-ranked IA (0-8) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-86 loss to sixth ranked Fjolnir (5-4) in Akranes on Friday evening. They made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game, while IA only scored ten points from the stripe. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) had a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (197-0) chipped in 24 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Marcus Dewberry (183, college: St.Leo, agency: Aspire Sports) responded with 31 points and 4 assists and guard Armann Vilbergsson (190-85) scored 17 points. Four IA players scored in double figures. IA's coach Jon Thordarson rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Fjolnir maintains sixth position with 5-4 record. Loser IA still closes the standings with eight games lost. Fjolnir will meet at home league's leader Skallagrimur in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. IA will play against Hamar (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
