Regular Season Round 9: Lima-Horta - Aros Patatas 42-71

The biggest surprise of round 9 in LF2 was guest Aros Patatas' (7-2) easy road victory over second-best Lima-Horta (6-3) 71-42 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lima-Horta. It was a key game for the second position in Group A. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aros Patatas dominated on the defensive end, holding Lima-Horta to just 3 points in fourth quarter and to 12 points in second half. Aros Patatas dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Lima-Horta's 18. They outrebounded Lima-Horta 33-22 including 25 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Andrea Alcantara (169-99) who scored 22 points. Point guard Natalia Lopez (171-93) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Ana Alonso (187-90) who recorded 12 points and guard Laura Lopez (171-85) added 6 points respectively. Lima-Horta's coach Isaac Fernandez gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Aros Patatas moved-up to second place in Group A. Lima-Horta at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Aros Patatas are looking forward to face GDKO Bizkaia (#3) in Galdakao in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Lima-Horta will play on the road against Rioja in Azkoitia and is hoping to win this game.
