There was no surprise when 15th ranked Alghero (1-8) was outplayed at home by sixth ranked Spezzina (5-3) 74-45 on Saturday. Spezzina dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Alghero's 20. They outrebounded Alghero 48-31 including a 19-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Chiara Cadoni (185-94) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international guard Elisa Templari (175-89, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points and 4 steals. Four Spezzina players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Arianna Beretta (178-96, agency: SPORTlab Agency) with 16 points and center Alexandra Petrova (185-97) scored 7 points and 10 rebounds. Spezzina moved-up to fifth place in A2. Loser Alghero keeps the fifteenth position with eight games lost. Spezzina will face higher ranked Palermo (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
