Regular Season Round 9: Gipuzkoa UPV - Araski 57-61

The game between third ranked Gipuzkoa UPV (6-3) and eighth ranked Araski (5-4) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Gipuzkoa UPV was defeated by Araski in a tough game in San Sebastian 57-61. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 61-57. Araski forced 22 Gipuzkoa UPV turnovers. It was a good game for Venezuelan point guard Roselis Silva (166-91, college: Arkansas Tech) who led her team to a victory with 14 points and 6 steals. Dutch guard Natalie Van-Den-Adel (185-90, college: Colorado St.) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Argentinian Lyndra Weaver answered with 21 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Jillian Alleyne (190-94, college: Oregon) added 8 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Gipuzkoa UPV. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Araski moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Al-Qazeres. Gipuzkoa UPV at the other side dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. They share it with Mann Filter and Sant Adria. Araski is looking forward to face Campus Promete (#13) in Logrono in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gipuzkoa UPV will play on the road against Gernika (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
