Regular Season Round 9: RR Retail Galli - Faenza 87-85

The most exciting game of round 9 in the Serie A2 took place in Valdarno. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Faenza (5-4) to second ranked RR Retail Galli (8-1) 87-85 on Saturday evening. RR Retail Galli made 25-of-31 free shots (80.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 37 Faenza turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including a 20-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Faenza helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. RR Retail Galli's coach Orlando William used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Simona Ballardini (181-81) with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Licia Schwienbacher (170-95) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Newly promoted RR Retail Galli maintains second place in A2 with 8-1 record behind leader Sesto SG. Faenza at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. RR Retail Galli are looking forward to face Forli (#13) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Faenza will play against Roma SRB (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
