Regular Season Round 9: Catz - ViVe 73-62

SM-sarja top team - Catz Lappeenranta (8-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat fifth ranked ViVe (5-4) 73-62. It looked good early as ViVe took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Catz Lappeenranta had a 24-7 second period charge getting the lead and ViVe was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-73. Catz Lappeenranta dominated on the defensive end, holding ViVe to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded ViVe 48-31 including a 21-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Catz Lappeenranta players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. U.S. Virgin Islands-American swingman Natalie Day (182-90, college: Portland) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American point guard Valencia McFarland (163-91, college: Mississippi) accounted for 12 points, 5 rebounds and 11 assists. American guard Sydney Coffey (183-93, college: Marist, agency: LBM Management) came up with 19 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import swingman Pachis Roberts (180-94, college: Georgia) added 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for ViVe in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-1 record, which they share with Honka. ViVe at the other side keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will play against Helmi Basket (#9) in Helsinki in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ViVe will play at home against Kouvottaret (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
