Regular Season Round 6: PAOK - Olympiacos Volou 83-70

There was no surprise in Thessaloniki where 11th ranked Olympiacos Volou (1-5) was defeated by sixth ranked PAOK (4-2) 83-70 on Sunday. Olympiacos Volou was trailing by 6 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 23-9 charge of PAOK, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 19 Olympiacos Volou turnovers and outrebounded them 50-24 including a 28-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. PAOK looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American-Bahrain forward Brittany Lewis (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 18 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Kierra Mallard (188-90, college: Texas Tech) chipped in 17 points, 17 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Ciara Andrews (175-94, college: St.Joseph's) with 32 points and her fellow American import Sarah Fairbanks (188-94, college: St.Joseph's) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. PAOK moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Dafni Agioy. Olympiacos Volou lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with five games lost. They share it with Proteas and Panathlitikos. PAOK will meet Esperides (#8) in the next round. Olympiacos Volou will play against Faros Keratsiniou and hope to win that game.
