Rather predictable result when seventh ranked Valsesia (6-4) defeated at home 11th ranked Cecina (4-6) 82-65 on Sunday. They outrebounded Cecina 39-28 including 30 on the defensive glass. Valsesia looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Swingman Mattia Magrini (190-93) had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Dario Farabegoli (197-98) chipped in 18 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Valsesia players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Leonardo Salvadori (198-93, agency: Players Group) responded with 19 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Francesco Forti (183-94, agency: Players Group) scored 9 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Cecina's coach Gianni Montemurro rotated ten players seeing no chance for a win. Valsesia moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Vicenza. Loser Cecina dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Valsesia will face higher ranked Omnia Basket (#4) in Pavia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Cecina will play at home against Montecatiniterme (#6) and hope to win that game.
