Regular Season Round 9: Eurobasket Roma - Remer Treviglio 97-81

There was a minor upset when 11th ranked Remer Treviglio (3-6) lost on the road to fourteenth ranked Eurobasket Roma (3-6) 97-81 on Sunday. Eurobasket Roma dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Remer Treviglio's 38 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Eurobasket Roma looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Remer Treviglio was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American forward DeShawn Sims (203-88, college: Michigan) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 9 rebounds. Power forward Mitchell Poletti (205-88) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Eurobasket Roma's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Andrea Mezzanotte (202-98) answered with 12 points and 7 rebounds and Austrian-American forward Bryce Douvier (201-91, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Remer Treviglio. Four Eurobasket Roma and five Remer Treviglio players scored in double figures. Eurobasket Roma moved-up to twelfth place in A2. Eurobasket Roma will face higher ranked Legnano (#4) in Castellanza in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Remer Treviglio will play at home against Mens Sana 1871 (#11) and hope to win that game.
