Regular Season Round 9: Ascensores Tresa - Segle XXI 82-50

Bottom-ranked Segle XXI (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 82-50 loss to twelfth ranked Ascensores Tresa (3-6) in Gijon on Sunday evening. The game without a history. Ascensores Tresa led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Segle XXI's 16. They outrebounded Segle XXI 48-19 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Riley Nordgaard (178-93, college: Montana St.) who scored 24 points and 7 rebounds. Center Deborah Ayela (186-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds. Four Ascensores Tresa players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Aixa Wone (184-0) who recorded 17 points and forward Helena Pueyo (182-1) added 10 points respectively. Segle XXI's coach Ivan Torinos already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ascensores Tresa moved-up to tenth place in Group A, which they share with ADBA and Rioja. Segle XXI lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. Ascensores Tresa will face Oviedo (#13) on the road in the next round. Segle XXI's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Barcelona Joventut LC.
