Regular Season Round 9: Korikouvot - TuNMKY 71-68

Important game to mention about took place in Kouvola. Eighth ranked Korikouvot (4-4) saved a 3-point victory at home edging second-best TuNMKY (7-2) 71-68 on Sunday evening. It looked good early as TuNMKY took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Korikouvot had a 17-14 second period charge getting the lead and TuNMKY was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 68-71. Swingman Vili Nyman (198-98) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and swingman Teemu Knihtinen (195-98) chipped in 20 points. The best for the losing side was center Mikael Sandberg (210-91) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 11 rebounds and forward Mikael Laihonen (202-94) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds. Four TuNMKY players scored in double figures. Korikouvot moved-up to sixth place in Division. TuNMKY at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. Korikouvot will play against Porvoon Tarmo (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. TuNMKY will play against the league's leader HBA-Marsky (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
