There was no surprise when 13th ranked Bisceglie (3-7) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Recanati (6-4) 110-102 on Sunday. Recanati dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Bisceglie's 42 and made 31-of-37 free shots (83.8 percent) during the game. Recanati forced 29 Bisceglie turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Bisceglie was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Giacomo Gurini (192-84) scored 35 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and naturalized Senegalese power forward Yande Fall (203-90, agency: Octagon Europe) chipped in 14 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side point guard Manuel Diomede (189-90, agency: Two Points) responded with 29 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Simone Bonfiglio (181-88, agency: Octagon Europe) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Bisceglie's coach Domenico Sorgentone rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Recanati moved-up to fifth place in B, which they share with Vicenza. Loser Bisceglie keeps the thirteenth position with seven games lost. Recanati will face Perugia (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Bisceglie will play against Ortona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
