There was a minor upset in Venezia where 7th ranked San Salvatore (4-5) was defeated by tenth ranked Marghera (4-5) 67-51 on Sunday. Marghera forced 29 San Salvatore turnovers. Guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and swingman Irene Pieropan (175-91) chipped in 13 points. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Cinzia Arioli (178-84, agency: LBM Management) with 12 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Anna Lussu (163-85) scored 15 points and 4 steals. Marghera moved-up to eighth place in A2. Marghera will face higher ranked Alpo VF (#3) in Verona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Salvatore will play at home against Fanola SML (#16) and hope to win that game.
