Regular Season Round 8: Melbourne - Sydney 89-101

Date: November 26, 2017
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Melbourne. Third ranked Sydney Uni Flames faced second-ranked Boomers. Guests from Sydney (8-4) defeated host Boomers (8-6) 101-89. Sydney Uni Flames made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 60.7 percentage. Sydney Uni Flames looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Asia Taylor (188-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording 29 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Belinda Snell (180-81) who added 28 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. The former international center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) responded with 22 points and 7 assists and American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) scored 18 points. Boomers' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Townsville and Perth. Boomers at the other side dropped to the fourth place with six games lost. Sydney Uni Flames will meet at home Townsville Fire (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Boomers will play against Canberra Capitals and hope to secure a win.
