There was no surprise in Sichuan where 9th ranked Whale (2-6) was defeated by fourth ranked Guangdong Dolphins (5-3) 71-62 on Monday. American power forward Amber Harris (195-88, college: Xavier) fired 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard LiWei Yang (175-95) chipped in 16 points. Four Guangdong Dolphins players scored in double figures. Belarusian center Yelena Levchenko (196-83, college: W.Virginia) produced a double-double by scoring 27 points and 21 rebounds and forward Yang Jia (191-87) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Guangdong Dolphins maintains fourth place with 5-3 record, which they share with Shanxi XR and Xinjiang. Loser Whale dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. Guangdong Dolphins will face Heilongjiang (#5) in Harbin in the next round. Whale will play on the road against Shenyang Golden Lions (#9) in Dandong and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
