Regular Season Round 5: Minas - Caxias do Sul 86-84

The most exciting game of round 5 in the NBB took place in Belo Horizonte. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Caxias do Sul (2-3) to fourth ranked Minas (4-1) 86-84 on Tuesday evening. Minas made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Minas had a 33-18 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Forward Wesley Ferreira (201-95) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and the former international point guard George-Yeye Torres (188-91) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Minas' coach Espiga Soares used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Caue-Borges dos-Santos (180-91) responded with 21 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and Alex Oliveira (196-83) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Minas and five Caxias do Sul players scored in double figures. Minas moved-up to second place. Caxias do Sul at the other side dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with L.Sorocaba. Minas are looking forward to face Joinville (#11) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Caxias do Sul will play against Liga Sorocaba and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
