The game between second ranked Kouvot (9-5) and 11th ranked UU-Korihait (3-10) in Kouvola on Wednesday ended with biggest points difference. Kouvot outscored guests from Uusikaupunki 105-67. The game was mostly controlled by Kouvot. UU-Korihait managed to win fourth quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kouvot had a 33-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 52.2 percentage. Kouvot looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by UU-Korihait's players. American forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and the former international Ville Kaunisto (204-82, agency: Court Side) supported him with 21 points and 8 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots). Four Kouvot players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 8 rebounds by American forward Juan Pattillo (203-88, college: W.Kentucky) did not help to save the game for UU-Korihait. Guard Marius Van Andringa (189-94) added 12 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Kouvot maintains second position with 9-5 record having just three points less than leader Salon Vilpas, which they share with Kauhajoki. UU-Korihait lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with ten games lost. Kouvot will meet Kauhajoki (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. UU-Korihait will play against Joensuun Kataja (#8) and hope to secure a win.
