Regular Season Round 5: Zabiny Brno - Olimpia Brasov 82-98

The game between Top Four teams took place in Brno. 3rd placed Czech host Zabiny Brno (1-3) lost to leader Romanian Olimpia Brasov (4-0) 98-82. It was a great shooting night for Olimpia Brasov especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. American guard Aliyyah Handford (175-94, college: St.John's) nailed 26 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winning side and her fellow American import center Kristina Higgins (196-94, college: Baylor) accounted for 15 points and 16 rebounds. Natalie Stoupalova (183-98) came up with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) and forward Pavla Svrdlikova (185-90) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for Zabiny Brno in the defeat. Five Olimpia Brasov and four Zabiny Brno players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Olimpia Brasov have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain first place with 4-0 record. Zabiny Brno lost third consecutive game. They keep the third position with three games lost. They share it with Flying Foxes. Olimpia Brasov will play against league's second-placed Alba Iulia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Zabiny Brno will play against Flying Foxes in Vienna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
