Date: November 29, 2017
The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Haukar (6-4) in Hafnarfjordur on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Snaefell (4-6) 77-68. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Kristen McCarthy (180-90, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists. International forward Berglind Gunnarsdottir (175-93) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and forward Rosa Petursdottir (174-97) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Haukar. Haukar's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Snaefell maintains seventh position with 4-6 record. Haukar at the other side dropped to the second place with four games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Snaefell are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Njardvik (#8) at home in the next round. Haukar will play against the league's leader Valur (#1) having rather not much hope for a victory.
