Very important is a road loss of second ranked Townsville Fire (9-5) against sixth ranked Dandenong Rangers (7-7) on Wednesday night. Visiting Townsville Fire was crushed by Dandenong Rangers in Dandenong 78-59. Dandenong Rangers outrebounded Townsville Fire 47-35 including 32 on the defensive glass. Power forward Carley Mijovic (196-94) nailed a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and Spanish guard Laia Palau (177-79) accounted for 13 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Dandenong Rangers players scored in double figures. The former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) came up with 19 points and 9 rebounds and guard Mia Murray (184-88) added 16 points respectively for Townsville Fire in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Dandenong Rangers maintains sixth place with 7-7 record. Townsville Fire at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Dandenong Rangers will meet at home bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (#8) in the next round.
