Regular Season Round 15: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 70-79

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 4th placed Toshiba Thunders' (11-8) home loss to third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (13-6) 70-79 on Friday. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Hitachi Sunrockers made 7 blocks. It was a great evening for Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Tomoya Hasegawa (185-89) helped adding 19 points and 4 assists. Four Hitachi Sunrockers players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) with 20 points and 5 rebounds and the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) scored 18 points and 5 assists. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Hitachi Sunrockers. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toshiba Thunders will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
