Regular Season Round 7: Charleville - Vichy Clermont 87-97

Date: December 1, 2017
Bottom-ranked Charleville-Mezieres (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 97-87 loss to ninth ranked JA Vichy (4-3) in Charleville. The guests were ahead by 4 points but lost the second period ending it with a 6-point deficit before their 29-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great shooting night for JA Vichy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Kwamain Mitchell (178-89, college: St.Louis) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. Naturalized Ivorian center Mohamed Kone (211-81, college: Valparaiso) accounted for 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Bahamas guard Michael Carey-Jr (196-93, college: Wagner) came up with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and Bahamas center Zane Knowles (208-92, college: Texas A&M-CC) added 16 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) respectively for Charleville-Mezieres in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. JA Vichy moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Charleville-Mezieres lost their sixth game in a row. They still close the standings with six games lost. JA Vichy's next round opponent will be STB Le Havre (#12) on the road which should be theoretically an easy game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against Poitiers (#15) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
