Regular Season Round 11: Fjolnir - Skallagrimur 98-101

The most exciting game of round 11 in the D1 took place in Reykjavik. This derby game ended with only three-point home defeat of 6th ranked Fjolnir (5-5) to first ranked Skallagrimur (9-1) 101-98 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Swingman Eyjolfur Halldorsson (194-98) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Aaron Parks (190-94, college: CS Northridge) contributed with 35 points (!!!) for the winners. Skallagrimur's coach Finnur Jonsson used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Sam Prescott (190-90, college: Mt.St.Mary's, agency: SDJ Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!), 10 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Sigvaldi Eggertsson (197-0) added 23 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Fjolnir. Skallagrimur have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 9-1 record. Fjolnir at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Skallagrimur are looking forward to face Hamar (#5) at home in the next round. Fjolnir will play against the league's second-placed Snaefell in Stykkisholmur and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
