Regular Season Round 11: Valur - Haukar 78-68

Date: December 2, 2017
The game between Top Four teams took place in Reykjavik. First ranked host Valur (8-3) defeated second-ranked Haukar (6-5) 78-68. Valur players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Alexandra Petersen (-93) who led the winners and scored 22 points, 5 rebounds and 9 assists. The former international forward Kristrun Sigurjonsdottir (176-85) accounted for 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side. The former international swingman Helena Sverrisdottir (184-88, college: TCU) came up with a triple-double by scoring 12 points, 15 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals and American guard Cherise Daniel (180-87, college: Ohio St.) added 15 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals respectively for Haukar in the defeat. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Haukar's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Valur maintains first place with 8-3 record. Haukar at the other side dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Valur will play against bottom-ranked Njardvik (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Haukar will play against Breidablik (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
