The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Amicale as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Basket Esch) loss. Amicale smashed 3rd ranked Musel Pikes in Steinsel 104-73. They outrebounded Musel Pikes 52-28 including a 35-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Musel Pikes was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. International guard Bob Melcher (189-94) scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Billy McDaniel (199-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) chipped in 19 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Five Amicale players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Michael Nwelue (195-93, college: Drury) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds and the former international guard Tom Welter (184-93) scored 18 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Amicale (8-2) have an impressive five-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Basket Esch. Musel Pikes at the other side dropped to the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Sparta. Musel Pikes will play next round against Heffingen trying to get back on the winning streak. Amicale will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Basket Esch on the road.
