There was a minor upset when 10th ranked G.Larissa-Faros (3-4) was outscored by twelfth ranked Cretan Kings (2-5) in Keratsiniou 89-70 on Saturday. The game without a history. Cretan Kings led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Shaquille Goodwin (206-94, college: Memphis) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Malcolm Armstead (187-89, college: Wichita St.) accounted for 19 points and 5 assists for the winning side. Point guard Nontas Papantoniou (190-90) came up with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and center Georgios Diamantakos (215-95) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for G.Larissa-Faros in the defeat. Four G.Larissa-Faros players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cretan Kings moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Trikalla. Newly promoted G.Larissa-Faros dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Cretan Kings will meet at home higher ranked Promitheas (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. G.Larissa-Faros will play against Kolossos HH (#8) in Rodou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
