Regular Season Round 9: Kagoshima - Tokyo Cinq R. 100-88

Everything could happen in Renova at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Kagoshima and 8th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. had identical 2-5 record. This time Kagoshima used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Tokyo 100-88 on Saturday night. Kagoshima shot 61.2 percent from the field. Kagoshima outrebounded Tokyo Cinq R. 35-19 including a 27-10 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Chris Olivier (203-92, college: Oklahoma St.) who had a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Darnell Martin (198-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) who recorded 26 points and forward Drew Martin (203-94, college: Concordia, OR) added 21 points respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Despite that victory Kagoshima went down to seventh position due to points difference. Tokyo Cinq R. lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eighth place with six games lost. Kagoshima will face league's second-placed Saitama Broncos on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokyo Cinq R. will play against Toyoda Gosei (#4) and hope to win that game.
