Regular Season Round 11: HyPo - FoA 98-72

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked HyPo (8-3) rolled over 7th ranked Forssan Alku (4-7) in Hyvinkaa 98-72. HyPo dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Forssan Alku's 26. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Forssan Alku's players. HyPo brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international center Taru Tuukkanen (192-77, college: Xavier) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 blocks. Estonian power forward Annika Koster (185-92) helped adding 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. HyPo's coach Miikka Sopanen felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Mia Loyd (180-94, college: N.Dakota) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 17 rebounds and the other American import guard Aaliyah Lewis (165-93, college: St.John's) scored 17 points. Five HyPo and four Forssan Alku players scored in double figures. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for HyPo. Defending champion moved-up to third place, which they share with PeKa. Forssan Alku at the other side keeps the seventh position with seven games lost. HyPo will play against league's second-placed Tapiolan Honka on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Forssan Alku will play against Peli-Karhut (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
