Regular Season Round 15: Toshiba BT - Hitachi SR 77-78

Important game to mention about took place in Kanagawa. Third ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (13-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 4th placed Toshiba Thunders (11-8) 78-77 in the fight for the third place. It was a great evening for Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 5 rebounds. International point guard Leo Vendrame (183-93) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international swingman Naoto Tsuji (185-89) with 18 points and 9 assists and American power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Sunrockers have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. They maintain third place with 13-6 record having just two points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the fourth position with eight games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will face league's second-placed Chiba Jets at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Toshiba Thunders will play against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses and hope to win that game.
