Regular Season Round 11: Myrtia - L'Hospitalet 50-52

The biggest surprise of round 11 in LEB Silver was guest L'Hospitalet's (8-3) road victory over second-ranked Myrtia (7-4) 52-50 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 20-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. L'Hospitalet forced 22 Myrtia turnovers. Strangely Myrtia outrebounded L'Hospitalet 48-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was power forward Ivan Garcia (206-86) who scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Georgian center Shota Gelazonia (205-94) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. British Matthew Don (201-93, college: Cameron) produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds and Italian-Argentinian swingman Juan-Ignacio Jasen (196-85) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Myrtia's coach Quini Garcia tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. L'Hospitalet have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Albacete and Granada. Newly promoted Myrtia dropped to the fourth place with four games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. L'Hospitalet is looking forward to face league's second-placed Albacete at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Myrtia will play against La Roda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
