Regular Season Round 9: Scandone AV - Umana VE 87-77

An interesting game for Scandone AV (7-2) which hosted in Avellino second-best Umana Venezia (7-2). Third ranked Scandone AV managed to get a 10-point victory 87-77. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Umana Venezia. Scandone AV dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Umana Venezia's 28. It was a good game for American guard Jason Rich (191-86) who led his team to a victory with 29 points. His fellow American import forward Maarten Leunen (206-85, college: Oregon) contributed with 6 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Lithuanian swingman Gediminas Orelik (199-90) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and American Dominique Johnson (192-87, college: Azusa Pacific, agency: Higher Vision Sports) added 14 points in the effort for Umana Venezia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Scandone AV have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with EA7 Armani and Umana VE. Scandone AV is looking forward to face Vanoli Cremona (#11) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Umana Venezia will play against Grissin Bon RE (#15) and is hoping to win this game.
