Very expected game when 10th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (3-10) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Espoo United (8-7) 102-97 on Saturday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 36-24. But Lapuan Korikobrat won third quarter 22-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Espoo United made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for American guard Omar Calhoun (198-93, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory scoring 27 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import point guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) helped adding 22 points and 5 assists. Four Espoo United players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American Maurice Creek (196-90, college: G.Washington) with 29 points and 8 rebounds and Puerto Rican-American forward Christopher Ortiz (203-93, college: Kent St., agency: Inception Sports) scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Espoo United have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Newly promoted Espoo United maintains sixth place with 8-7 record. Lapuan Korikobrat lost third consecutive game. Loser Lapuan Korikobrat keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Espoo United will face again Lapuan Korikobrat (#10) at home in the next round.
