The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Qatar Sports Club (1-1) in Doha on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Al Gharafa (2-0) 87-79. It was a good game for international forward Sammy Monroe (198-85, college: Newberry) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard James Justice (178-89, college: Martin Methodist) contributed with 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Monroe is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American guard Baden Jaxen (190-90, college: N.Carolina) answered with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and the other American import forward Nick West (208-94, college: Alabama A&M) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Qatar Sports Club. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Sadd.
