Regular Season Round 8: Apollon Patras - Ermis Agias 70-52

Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked Ermis Agias (4-4) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Apollon Patras (6-2) 70-52. The game was mostly controlled by Apollon Patras. Ermis Agias was better in fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Ermis Agias 39-25 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American guard Alex Acker (196-83, college: Pepperdine) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points and 7 rebounds. Center Costis Gontikas (206-94, college: New York U.) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Apollon Patras' coach Dimitris Papadopoulos used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Dimitris Lolas (203-86) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and power forward Nikos Kalles (211-87) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Ermis Agias. Apollon Patras have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 6-2 record. Newly promoted Ermis Agias dropped to the seventh place with four games lost. Apollon Patras' next round opponent will be Karditsas (#13) and are hoping to win another game. Ermis Agias will play against Kastoria (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
