Regular Season Round 15: Kauhajoki - Kouvot 73-74

The most interesting game of round 15 in the Korisliiga was only one-point a home defeat of 3rd placed Kauhajoki (9-6) to second ranked Kouvot (10-5) 74-73 in the game for the second place. It ended the two-game winning streak of Kauhajoki. The guests trailed by 8 points after three quarters before their 22-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Americans were the main players on the court. It was a great evening for forward Thomas Gipson (201-93, college: Kansas St., agency: HMS) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. Guard James Sinclair (194-93, college: W.Carolina) helped adding 21 points. The best for the losing side was Greg Mangano (208-89, college: Yale, agency: Octagon Europe) with 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Stephen Maxwell (201-93, college: CS Northridge, agency: Two Points) scored 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Kauhajoki players scored in double figures. Kouvot maintains second place with 10-5 record having just three points less than leader Salon Vilpas. Kauhajoki at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Kouvot are looking forward to face BC Nokia (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kauhajoki will play against Joensuun Kataja (#7) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
