Regular Season Round 11: Hyeres-Toulon - Gravelines 74-88

There was a minor upset when higher ranked Hyeres-Toulon (6-5) was defeated at home by tenth ranked Gravelines-Dunkerque (6-5) 88-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Gravelines-Dunkerque. Hyeres-Toulon was better in fourth quarter 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gravelines-Dunkerque looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. It was a great evening for point guard Benjamin Sene (186-94) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. American Chris Johnson (198-90, college: Dayton) helped adding 17 points. Gravelines-Dunkerque's coach Julien Mahe used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American swingman Raymond Cowels-III (192-90, college: Santa Clara, agency: Athleadz) responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and American-Armenian point guard Terry Smith (185-86, college: Mercyhurst) scored 5 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. The victory was the third consecutive win for Gravelines-Dunkerque. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hyeres-Toulon. Gravelines-Dunkerque will face higher ranked ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hyeres-Toulon will play against Chalons-Reims and hope to win that game.
