Regular Season Round 9: Amsterdam - Leiden 64-83

Eredivisie top team - Leiden (8-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed sixth ranked Amsterdam (3-5) 83-64. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Amsterdam was better in fourth quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Amsterdam 42-29 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Leiden players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. It was a good game for American guard Carrington Love (186-94, college: Green Bay) who led his team to a victory with 22 points and 4 steals (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). His fellow American import center Clayton Vette (202-88, college: Winona St., agency: Court Side) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Max Van-Schaik (210-91, agency: Court Side) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and point guard Mack Bruining (188-97) added 10 points and 4 assists in the effort for Amsterdam. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Leiden have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 8-0 record. Amsterdam lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Leiden will have a break next round. Amsterdam will play at home against Rotterdam (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
