Regular Season Round 10: Sparta - Racing 85-82

A very close game took place in Bertrange between Sparta and Racing. Sixth ranked Sparta (5-5) got a very close home victory over 9th ranked Racing (3-7). Sparta managed to escape with a 3-point win 85-82 on Saturday evening. Point guard Philippe Arendt (187-98) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and American forward Brad Reese (200-88, college: Texas Tech) supported him with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Reese is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Sparta players scored in double figures. Even 23 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists by American swingman Scott Morton (195-87, college: Geneseo St.) did not help to save the game for Racing. Point guard Max Hilger (187-95) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for lost side. Sparta moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Musel Pikes. Racing lost seventh consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. They share it with Residence. Sparta will meet higher ranked T71 (#4) in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Racing will play against Etzella (#3) and hope to secure a win.
