Regular Season Round 11: AZS UMCS - Widzew 77-61

Bottom-ranked Widzew is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their tenth consecutive match to seventh ranked AZS UMCS (5-4) 77-61. The game without a history. AZS UMCS led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. AZS UMCS forced 21 Widzew turnovers. It was a great evening for Nigerian forward Uju Ugoka (185-93, college: Virginia Tech, agency: Two Points) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Serbian Dajana Butulija (174-86, agency: BeoBasket) helped adding 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four AZS UMCS players scored in double figures. AZS UMCS's coach Wojciech Szawarski allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American swingman Kathleen Scheer (187-89, college: Duke) responded with 14 points and 7 rebounds and guard Julia Drop (175-95) scored 12 points and 7 assists. AZS UMCS moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Energa Torun. Widzew lost their tenth game in a row. They still close the standings with ten games lost. AZS UMCS will play against Energa Torun (#7) on the road in the next round. Widzew will play against AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski (#8) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
