Regular Season Round 10: Ensino - Barca CBS 65-70

Not a big story in a game when 7th ranked Maquinaria Ensino (6-5) lost to fourth ranked Barca CBS (7-3) in Lugo 65-70 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maquinaria Ensino won third quarter 28-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Barca CBS made 18-of-20 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Barca CBS had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for American forward Laura Johnson (182-91, college: Sioux Falls) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 7 rebounds. Monica Lazaro (-86) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) replied with 21 points and 5 rebounds and American-Irish forward Fiona ODwyer (182-99, college: Emmanuel, MA) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Maquinaria Ensino. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Barca CBS moved-up to third place in Group A, which they share with Cortegada. Loser Maquinaria Ensino keeps the seventh position with five games lost. Barca CBS will face Arxil Pontevedra (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maquinaria Ensino will play against Cortegada in Vilagarcia Arousa and hope to win that game.
